Hundreds of Agudas Yisroel of America leaders and members
came to the Holy City to take part in the 9th Yarchei Kallah
at the Ramada Jerusalem Hotel.
When the event opened on Monday, all of the participants
received a full itinerary and a package containing a
gemora and a compilation of commentaries on the main
sugya being studied — hilchos
tefillin.
The guests were received by Rabbi Gedaliah Weinberger,
executive chairman of Agudas Yisroel of America, Rabbi Shlomo
Gertzulin, vice president of finance and administration,
Rabbi Shlomo Gottesman, joint chairman of the Committee for
Torah Projects, Rabbi Leibish Becker, member of the
presidential committee, and Rabbi Avrohom Nissan Perl,
director of the Committee for Torah Projects.
Among the participants were dozens of businessmen and
professionals who left their homes and business affairs for a
full week to study Torah in the holy air of Jerusalem and to
attend shiurim and hear divrei his'orerus
delivered by gedolei Yisroel and prominent roshei
yeshivos.
The event began when 250 participants gathered for
tefillas Minchah, followed by study in
chavrusas. The large hall at the Ramada Hotel was
transformed into a beis medrash for all intents and
purposes, as the sounds of Torah study rose up and echoed
throughout the hall.
During the evening hours a shiur was given by HaRav
Osher Weiss, the av beis din of Darkei Horo'oh and the
rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Darkei Torah.
Later divrei chizuk were given by HaRav Moshe
Mordechai Chodosh, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Or Elchonon in
Jerusalem, who praised the participants warmly and noted the
importance of Agudas Yisroel of America's work to organize
this important Torah project. He focused on tefillin
and the order and meaning of the passages they
contain.
On Tuesday night his'orerus talks were given by HaRav
Aharon Leib Shteinman, HaRav Shmuel Auerbach and HaRav Nosson
Tzvi Finkel, the rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Mir,
shlita.
Wednesday's program included talks by HaRav Yitzchok
Scheiner, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Kamenitz in Jerusalem, and
HaRav Leib Minzberg, the rov of Kahal Adas Yerushalayim
(Masmidim).
The women's program included a visit to Kever Rochel on
Tuesday.
