Requests for New Daf Yomi Shiurim as Maseches Pesochim Scheduled to Begin

by Betzalel Kahn

Meoros HaDaf HaYomi and other Daf Yomi organizations have been flooded with an unprecedented wave of requests for new shiurim inspired by the billing for the major Daf Yomi event scheduled to take place on Sunday 15 Teves (January) at Binyanei Ha'Uma in Jerusalem.

A delegation of rabbonim from Meoros HaDaf HaYomi headed by HaRav Chaim Dovid Kovalsky is continuing to conduct a round of visits to invite maranan verabonon gedolei Yisroel to the event designed to encourage Daf Yomi learners and recruit new participants. The rabbonim spoke about the importance of setting aside a period of time each day for the study of gemora and halochoh, praising Meoros HaDaf HaYomi for its efforts to encourage more and more Jews to study the Daf Yomi, particularly those who did not have the opportunity to learn Talmud in their youth.

The Meoros office reports Daf Yomi participants are expected to come to Sunday's event from faraway locations such as Yeruchom, Netivot, Be'er Sheva, Ofakim, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Kiryat Gat, Tzfas, Carmiel, Or Akiva, Yokne'am, Nehariyah, Meron, Haifa and the Haifa Bay suburbs. Seats in the main hall are already sold out, but tickets are still available for the adjacent halls where the event will be screened live.
