Ramat HaTana'im in Beit Shemesh Gets New Rov and New Sefer
Torah
by Betzalel Kahn
A stately hachnosas sefer Torah ceremony was held
recently at Beis Medrash Chanichei Hayeshivos, a magnet for
bnei Torah in Ramat HaTana'im in Ramat Beit Shemesh
and the surrounding neighborhoods as well. The sefer
Torah was donated by R' Feibish Michel Tal, a prominent
member of the six-year-old beis medrash which hosts a
variety of shiurim in addition to kollelim held
during periods that need chizuk in Torah study.
The event began in the home of HaRav Yitzchok Meir Hager, who
was inaugurated as the new rov of the kehilloh by
gedolei Yisroel and the kehilloh members after
serving for years as a rov and moreh tzedek in the
neighborhood. Numerous rabbonim arrived at his home to write
the final letters, including HaRav Sholom Ber Sorotzkin, head
of the Ateres Shlomo Institutions in Eretz Hakodesh, HaRav
Elimelech Kornfeld, rov of Kehillas HaGra, HaRav Naftoli Tzvi
Rotenberg, rov of Kehal Chassidim in Ramat Beit Shemesh Beit,
HaRav Tzvi Davidovitz, rov of Kehal Chassidim in Ramat Beit
Shemesh Alef, HaRav Chaim Aharon Monderer, rov of the Yeffeih
Nof neighborhood, HaRav Dovid Yitzchok Mandelbaum, moreh
tzedek in the Mishkenot Yaakov neighborhood and rosh
kollel of Kollel Tchechnov, HaRav Mordechai Yehuda
Dushinsky, rov of Kehillas Dushinsky, HaRav Menachem Mendel
Kibovitz, rov of Kehal Chareidim in Ramat Beit Shemesh, and
HaRav Shimon Anshin.
Numerous local residents joined the procession as it set out
for the beis medrash and afterwards the
kehilloh members sat down for a seudas mitzvah
graced by a visit from HaRav Shmuel Auerbach who addressed
the kehilloh and then handed the ksav hachtoroh
to HaRav Hager.
HaRav Mordechai Gross, av beis din of Chanichei
Hayeshivos of Bnei Brak and a member of the Shearis Yisroel
Beis Din, also addressed the kehilloh and HaRav Hager,
one of his close talmidim. HaRav Gross said that the
purpose of the sefer Torah and the new rov of the
kehilloh were one and the same: to serve as a light
and guide for the beis medrash.
The seudah ended with an address by HaRav Hager
followed by the announcement of the founding of a building
fund for a beis medrash to be constructed on a
spacious, centrally-located lot allocated by the municipality
through the efforts of the chareidi city councilmen, who have
worked indefatigably to promote the success of the
kehilloh.
