Hatzoloh Yisroel Volunteers Hard at Work in Galilee

By Betzalel Kahn

Hatzoloh Yisroel is continuing its operational and humanitarian activities for Galilee residents during these long days of heavy fighting in the North. Hatzoloh medics in Tzfas, Chatzor, Tiberius, Carmiel and Nahariya continue to administer first aid to dozens of people harmed by the unremitting rocket attacks on northern cities.

Medics are on emergency alert and operate with the backing of ambulance drivers and medics from various emergency response centers around the country. Binyomin Mitzmacher, who is responsible for Hatzoloh Yisroel in Elad, said several Elad medics joined the staff operating in the Galilee. Hatzoloh Yisroel branches in Beit Shemesh, Beitar Illit and Jerusalem also reported volunteers from all areas have been helping the Northern Region staff for over a week of working under fire and responding to hundreds of calls.

In addition to its operations in the North, Hatzoloh Yisroel conducted a major blood drive in Rechovot last week to collect blood for the Magen David Adom Blood Bank, which is facing serious shortages due to the fighting in the North. Michoh Shulam, who heads Hatzoloh Yisroel in the city, said 80 units of blood were donated.

Hatzoloh Chairman R' Dovid Greenwald has sent a delegation to the Galilee to assess the medics' needs in the area and provide them full backing.
