Five MKs vied for two spots on the Dayanim Selection Committee. Of the 113 MKs who took part in the vote on Monday five ballots were disqualified. Each MK voted for two representatives.

Confrontation with Missionaries Trying to Operate in Meah Shearim

Christian missionaries try to ensnare unsuspecting Jews around the world and recently they ventured into Jerusalem's Meah Shearim neighborhood. Furious residents tried to oust them from the neighborhood, but a show of violence by one of the missionaries led to a confrontation with the intruders and the police, who were summoned to protect the missionaries and even wound up beating residents.

Netivot Moshe Students and Parents Demonstrate Against Haifa Mayor

Students from the Netivot Moshe School in Haifa's Kiryat Shmuel neighborhood demonstrated alongside their parents against Mayor Yonah Yahav to protest the municipality's failure to meet the school's basic needs. One-Time Grant Deposited in Yeshiva and Kollel Accounts

Based on an agreement with the Finance Ministry, in exchange for abstaining from the vote on the state budget UTJ received a pledge for NIS 290 million ($65 million). Funds were deposited last week in yeshiva and kollel bank accounts in the form of a one-time grant. Yeshivas received NIS 360 ($80) per student while kollelim received NIS 650 ($145) per avreich.
