Maayanei Hayeshua Hospital to Launch Maternity Ward with
Hotel Conditions

Maayanei Hayeshua Hospital is scheduled to open a luxury
maternity ward planned by an architect who specializes in
hotel design. The ward, scheduled to open at the beginning of
Av, will be 50 percent larger than standard maternity wards
and will be set up to accommodate 42 mothers. In terms of the
hospital care available the ward will be the same as the
regular maternity ward, but the aesthetics will be far
improved to make the patient feel more at ease. The ward has
been allotted the seventh floor and is currently undergoing
final work.
The idea was the brainchild of Hospital Director Dr. Yoram
Lever, who says the aim was to improve conditions for mothers
as part of the public service they are entitled to. The ward
will be available at no extra charge subject to space
availability. The only stipulation is that the mother and
infant are normal and healthy without any special needs.
"We do not intend to advertise or launch a publicity campaign
for the new ward unless we can expand the delivery rooms and
the premature infants' ward, too," says Dr. Lever.
"Advertising could create pressure on the delivery rooms and
ruin the service!"
The hospital also has plans to expand the maternity ward to
allow as many families as possible benefit from the
expansion. "It'll take time," admits Dr. Lever. "First we
have to catch our breaths and relax following the heavy costs
we absorbed." The ward has not yet been named since the
hospital would like to dedicate it to a donor who is able to
cover the enormous expenses involved in its construction.
