Changes in Egged Lines from Jerusalem and Bnei Brak to Tzfas and Meron

By Betzalel Kahn

Egged recently implemented changes in its lines from Jerusalem and Bnei Brak to Tzfas and Meron and back. Additional runs of Line 980 from Bnei Brak and Line 982 from Jerusalem to Tzfas and Meron have been added to the schedule in response to increased demand among passengers traveling to the gravesites of tzaddikim during the Shovevim period.

With buses leaving at least every two hours from 9:00 am to 11:00 p.m., waiting time has been shortened.

The southbound departures were planned to ensure a bus bound either for Jerusalem or Bnei Brak leaves every hour to provide a solution for passengers who want to extend their stay or to allow passengers who miss the bus to Jerusalem to travel to Bnei Brak and take another bus from there.

Another change allows northern residents participating in events in the central region to return home at night: the final departures from Jerusalem and Bnei Brak to Tzfas (and from Tzfas to Jerusalem) now leave at 11:00 p.m. rather than 10:00 p.m.

Egged Route Department Director Zeev Sonenzon says on Thursdays, Fridays and Motzei Shabbos during the Shovevim period additional lines will be added as needed. Egged notes buses will stop in Meron 25 minutes after departing from Tzfas.
