Beitar Illit Dubbed Most Attractive Chareidi City
by Yated Ne'eman Staff

The Council for a Beautiful Israel awarded Beitar Illit five stars in its annual Beautiful Town in a Beautiful Israel competition and the city retained its title of the Most Beautiful Chareidi City, which it has held for several years running. The Elad and Emanuel local councils were also awarded five stars, along with Jerusalem.

Beitar Illit received the five stars as a sign of recognition and encouragement for its focused efforts to maintain the quality of life, the surroundings and the city's ascetic appearance.

This year for the first time Beitar Illit was among a limited number of Israeli cities contending for the title Degel Hayofi, but lost to Nes Tziona in the small city category. Nevertheless the judges' panel noted "the concerted effort and the activity invested by all of the [city's] employees to raise the quality of life and the surroundings in the city of Beitar Illit, which is worthy of [much] praise."

At the award ceremony, emphasis was placed on the dedication by the local councils that won the competition for preserving the quality of the surroundings and the quality of life for residents. At the ceremony Dr. Moshe Leibovitz, Beitar's deputy director-general and founding council head, accepted the award.
