Palestinian Saves Missing Child
by Yated Ne'eman Staff

A child reported missing from his home in the Gush Etzion town of Neve Daniel on Monday was found by a Palestinian resident from the nearby village of Nachlin and brought to the fence surrounding Beitar Illit.

Monday afternoon the police began to search for the child when he was reported missing from his home for several hours. Shortly after the search began Guy Akriv, head of Beitar's security, received a warning that the fence surrounding the city was being touched. The cameras installed near the fence showed a man shaking the fence forcefully.

Raanan Amran, head of the city's emergency and security services, rushed to the scene where he found a Palestinian resident of Nachlin shaking the fence to draw attention. At his side was the missing child. The Palestinian man reported he had found the child wandering around and the only way to return him to a Jewish area was by shaking the electronic fence. The child was immediately brought to his relieved parents, who were waiting at home in Neve Daniel.
