New Amendment Requires Bathing Facilities to Provide Separate Hours
by Eliezer Rauchberger

The Knesset plenum unanimously passed an amendment requiring all therapeutic bathing facilities that receive state funding in any form to arrange men-only and women-only hours.

Until now, only health spas directly funded by the state, based on the Budget Foundations Law and recognized as officially funded bodies, had to establish hours for separate bathing. Similar facilities that received funding assistance from local authorities or other sources were not included in the law.

MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni, who initiated the amendment, claimed that the existing law discriminated against religious citizens in need of these places for medicinal purposes.
