Palestinian Attacks are Immoral and Illegal
It is surprising that none of the press, and none of the many
critics of the press, makes mention of the fact that many of
the actions of the Palestinians are in violation of
international law.
The Battle Against Smoking
by Rav Dov Ettinger
Under the guidance of leading poskim and roshei
yeshivos, activists have already made significant headway
in curtailing the disease of cigarette smoking, thereby
making a great contribution to saving lives. Chazal tell us
"Kol hamatzil nefesh achas miYisroel ke'ilu kiyeim olom
molei." These words become even more relevant where
thousands of lives are at stake.
A Pillar of the World
by Yochonon Dovid
Let us imagine a business tycoon who is setting up a large
factory, equipping it with all it needs in order to operate,
hiring trained workers for the various positions and
appointing a supervisor for personnel to see that all goes
smoothly and the work is equitably divided up. Then, in a
magnanimous gesture, he decides to establish that supervisor
as a partner in the venture.
A Fresh Start: Understanding Yom Kippur Katan
by Rabbi Daniel Yaakov Travis
A Day of Repentance
A few minutes before reciting Yom Kippur Katan, I tried to
illustrate the tremendous importance of this tefilloh
to a close friend, with the following story. A talmid
chochom once told the Steipler that his brothers had
passed away at the age of sixty. He was approaching that age
and was concerned that perhaps there was some type of
Heavenly decree on his family.
