OPINION & COMMENT Since Prime Minister Ariel Sharon made such a big point of it in his election campaign more than 18 months ago, few commentators can resist holding him to his promise to bring security to the lives of people in Israel. Attacks continue, and when innocents are murdered while doing nothing more than going about their daily lives, the lack of security is acutely felt. The question almost asks itself: when will we have the security that Sharon promised? Who Shall Stand Before the `Omud'? In the course of a mussar shmuess in the beis midrash of Yeshivas Kol Torah, the Mashgiach HaRav Y. Borodiansky complained about the new phenomenon that has lately crept into certain botei knesses including minyanim of bnei Torah. The subject: someone to lead the pesukei dezimrah before the congregation. Guard Your Tongue
To Preserve the Intellect The first part quoted HaRav Moshe Blau saying that despite the trials and difficulties experienced, the key is not to lose our wits and our intellect. If we have our wisdom, our daas Torah, then we can hope for better days and we will know how to deal with what confronts us. The Ponovezher Rov, speaking in the middle of the War, said that Am Yisroel and Eretz Yisroel are permanent features of Creation.
