OPINION & COMMENT

The Secular Zionist Crisis

There is no doubt that the attacks we are experiencing are far from the normal course of human affairs. Though we do not see the Arab suicide bombers as studies in mesiras nefesh as some do -- we see them rather as low creatures who have no appreciation of any human life including their own -- still it is clear that the actions of the bombers and of the society that supports them are not within the bounds of normalcy.

The Importance of Sheitels in our Troubled Times
by Rabbi Pesach Eliyahu Falk

Part II

A world renowned expert of tsnius and halachah in general, HaRav Falk argues that in our times there should be particular emphasis on these matters. Recalling the words of the Chofetz Chaim almost 80 years ago, he points out that the only instance in which we are threatened with abandonment is in the case of pritzus. Thus in our times, when the awful events give this impression, there is a special importance to strengthening the bounds of tsnius.

The Meaning of Pesach Sheini
by S. Bilgrei

The development of Pesach Sheini is described in Chumash Bamidbor, which is a unique Chumash in that it is actually comprised of three separate Chumoshim, each emphasizing a separate hidden and important message. According to Chazal there are, altogether, seven "Chumoshim," seven books of the Torah, as is stated, "Chochmos bonsoh beisoh, chotzvoh amudeho shiv'oh" (Mishlei 9:1).

Pesach Rishon and Pesach Sheini: When did the Bnei Yisroel Bring the First Korbon Pesach?
by Rabbi Yosef Levinson

Men who were tomei approached Moshe Rabbenu, saying: "We are impure . . . why should we lose out, by not offering the Korbon Hashem?" (Bamidbar 9:7) There is an obvious difficulty: they knew that one who is tomei could not bring a korbon. Why then were they complaining? Were they insinuating that the halacha was unfair?

TRAPPED IN TIME
by Eric Sholom Simon

I was davening in shul late one evening when a beeping sound came from the Chassidic-garbed gentleman next to me. Seconds later, a similar sound emanated from my own shirt pocket.
