Beis Hamedrash Hachodosh in Manchester

Motzei Shabbos Vayechi a great celebration took place in Manchester. A large crowd, including the rabbonim of the town and some of the most prominent members of the community, participated in the hanochas even hapinoh of the Beis Hamedrash Hachodosh on Northumberland Street. After the recitation of Tehillim, Rabbi Ezriel Rosenbaum of the Gateshead Yeshiva delivered a drosho emphasizing the qualities of the Beis Hamedrash and the Rov's unique achievement in creating and hosting four kollelim to further enhance Manchester's reputation as one of the world's fastest-growing centers of Torah. The kollelim learn Taharos, Zeroyim, Kodshim, and Choshen Mishpot.

The evening's guest of honor, whose support for the building project has been widely acclaimed, was Reb Mordche Weiss. The foundation was laid by Rav Schneebalg, rov of Kehilla Machazikei Hadas, Dayan Westheim of the Manchester Beis Din, the renowned godol beTorah HaRav Boruch Shmuel Deutsch of Yeshivas Kol Torah, Yerushalayim, who came specially to honor the occasion, and by Rabbi Avrohom Silbiger, the rov of the Beis Hamedrash.

The event culminated in a beautiful melave malkeh which celebrated the occasion and included a siyum mishnayos for the first yahrtzeit of Rabbi Chaim Boruch Silbiger zt"l in whose memory part of the new building will be dedicated. A sefer Torah is also being written le'ilui nishmosoh.

After a drosho from the rov in which he explained how the Beis Hamedrash is built on the foundations of Torah, avodoh, and gemilus chassodim, Rav Schneebalg, guest speaker Rabbi Karnowsky and Rabbi Deutsch enthralled the capacity crowd with their warm divrei Torah and encouragement for this outstanding project. The guest of honor Reb Mordche Weiss spoke with great eloquence about the huge undertaking spearheaded by Rabbi Silbiger and how his determination is a reflection of the great example set by his late father zt"l.
