Police Find Evidence for Cabinet Secretary Violations
by Yated Ne'eman Staff

According to a report in Globes by investigative reporter Yoav Yitzhak, police investigating the activities of One Israel in the past elections have evidence indicating criminal acts by Yitzchok Herzog, currently the Cabinet Secretary of prime minister Barak. It is not yet known whether the evidence is sufficient to support an indictment. Herzog raised millions of dollars for Prime Minister Ehud Barak's election campaign in 1999.

The material was given to the State Attorney's office and also to Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein to enable them to answer a petition to the High Court of Justice against Herzog's continuing to serve in view of his refusal to answer police questions when called in recently.

The investigative material was at the same time presented to civil service commissioner Shmuel Hollander, who was to receive it from the State Attorney's office, in order to decide whether he should suspend Herzog from his post.
