Shatnez Alert

by A. Cohen

Scores of this season's linen and linen-look garments have been found to contain shatnez. The mixture of linen and wool has been found even in garments with labels attesting that the garment is 100% linen.

The Committee for Shatnez told Yated Ne'eman that one may not rely upon a garment label. Every garment must be tested. One also may not rely upon a store owners' word that the garment is free of shatnez.

Garments containing shatnez have been found in factories for women's clothing for the chareidi sector throughout the Dan area, including Bnei Brak. The public must be on the alert in order to avoid violating the serious transgression of wearing a garment with shatnez.
