OPINION & COMMENT Among the few achievements for religion in the current Knesset session that politicians can boast of, is the last- minute passage of the Religious Councils Law, intended to block the entry of Reform and Conservative representatives onto those councils. The official purpose of these councils is to supply "religious services," meaning that they disburse the government's budgetary allocations in support of religion. In Judaism? Question: "It is extremely difficult for me to understand how there can be differences of opinion among the different groups within Torah Jewry. Why is this all necessary? The situation confuses me, and it causes a chillul Hashem among secular Jews."

an Israeli Secular Jew It is true! You built the state. Not us. Not only that, but even when we heard you were planning to found a state we were greatly worried.
