American Moetzes Calls for Increased Tefillos for 13 Iranian Jews as Trial Pends

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

In response to the recent development in Iran, where it was announced that the case of the thirteen imprisoned Jews has been handed over to the judiciary for trial, the Moetzes Gedolei haTorah of America has issued a call to Klal Yisroel to increase its tefillos as the urgency of the situation has just escalated.

The thirteen men, ranging in age from 16 to 48, have been imprisoned since March on charges of espionage for Israel and the United States, a charge which can carry a death sentence if they are found guilty.

Agudath Israel of America's involvement in this issue began with the Jews' arrest in March. Since the prisoners' plight became known to the public, Agudath Israel has asked for people to include the Iranian Jews in their prayers and has also worked with other Jewish groups to promote a number of political efforts on their behalf.

May the tefillos of Klal Yisroel propel the immediate release of these innocent men and return them to their waiting families.
