Jews Around the World Asked to Pray for Kiddush Hashem

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

Jews around the world are asked to join in solidarity with the community in Eretz Yisroel. UTJ also has a special department whose task it is to organize prayers for the success of the effort at kiddush Sheim Shomayim in the upcoming elections in Israel. This is an effort in which every Jew, throughout the world, can join and be effective. As explained by our gedolim, our focus is on the goal of kiddush Sheim Shomayim and not on this or that amount of seats in the Knesset. This is a goal that transcends politics.

The World Prayer Staff of United Torah Judaism -- Degel HaTorah-Agudas Yisroel -- For the Sake of Shabbos, issued the following statement:

You, even in chutz la'aretz can help!

Let us take up the trade of our forefathers. The voice is the voice of Yaakov, to be raised in prayer.

We call upon all of our brethren, in each and every place, to pray, and to gather (where and when possible), to beseech the mercy of Heaven, from the evening 2 Sivan (the night of Sunday May 16 in Eretz Yisroel), until the night of 3 Sivan (the night of May 17), for the success in the difficult struggle, under the leadership of all the gedolei Yisroel, shlita in the hope and to the goal that the Name of Heaven will be sanctified, and that there should be no chillul Hashem.

Note that in Australia, this period is from Monday to Tuesday morning, and in the U.S., in contrast, it is from Sunday afternoon until Monday afternoon. Britain, Europe and South Africa are about the same as Israel.
